Winds of Azeroth – Guild Charter

Created 5/4/07, Revised 12/22/08

First and foremost, I would like to welcome you to our communal clan, Winds of Azeroth! We come from many different places ranging from the United States to Australia. Fun and adventure is why we all come here. World of Warcraft is purely a great game, and we are real life people who take some time from our real lives to find this enjoyment. Being serious or "elite" is not in our goals; we come here for enjoyment and to establish friendships, role play, and help one another through each character's trials, varying in many degrees of challenge and effort.

Myself (Hurgroda Steadwind) and the Stratosphere of Winds of Azeroth have set guidelines for the clan that must be adhered to at all times. Prior to acceptance into Winds of Azeroth, all new members must acknowledge that they have read this Charter. These mandates are intended to keep order and enjoyment to the guild. They are not made to seem stringent, but only to give an idea of who the Winds of Azeroth are. They are as follows:

Website
  • Winds of Azeroth has a website that should be checked upon frequently for the sake of organization:

    http://www.windsofazeroth.net

Signing up for the website is required so that you may gain full access to our Forums. Feel free to bookmark the website, as you should frequent it on a regular basis. News, forum feed, guild dates for events and such will be kept updated for all our benefits. I wish to make this clan as efficient as possible, and this site is a great tool just for that. Sign ups for events will be offered, and points will be distributed. The Sovereign may even reward those who post on the forums. Why points you say? We do have a Guild Bank, with quite a bit of treasures. If you ever need to borrow gold or if there is an item(s) that you could use, this will depend on your points as well as general participation of the clan. I may also review points in deciding upon promotions in rank.

Role Playing & Chat Channel
Requirements
  • Winds of Azeroth is a guild on a Role Playing Server. Therefore, we all should role play to a certain extent. Nobody goes looking for grapes at their local lemonade stand. Understandably, some role play (RP) more than others do. You don't have to be the world's greatest storytelling RP'er to participate. Many will appreciate the fact that your are RP'ing to begin with! So I have set up a few guidelines with the RP of Winds of Azeroth:

    • Guild Chat (/g) is strictly to be used In Character (IC). You must act how your character acts in the game. Once again, there are times when you might need to link an item, or in other cases feel the need to drop in the "One Sentence King," which is perfectly fine. Just be sure to denote Out of Character (OOC) with the double parentheses. Examples: ((Hey, check out my [Mechanical Yeti]!)) or ((Haha, nice Office Space reference!)). If you do not abide by this, be prepared to have a warning sent. If disregard for the channel's rule continues, a dropped rank will occur, or the worse case scenario--dismissal. If you don't wish to RP at the time, have respect for those wishing to keep Guild Chat IC.

    • We do have an OOC Chat channel. Sometimes folks don't wish to RP constantly, or maybe wish to get to know my fellow members better through Real Life (RL). Please make use of this channel for getting to know others, or even planning out raids, instances, or help on quests or other aspects of the game. The channel is named: windsoaooc. Just type "/join windsoaooc" then hit enter. The channel will be listed with a number, enter in the number and you're there. I do not require you join it, but it is strongly recommended.

    • Please keep shorthand to a minimum. In OOC Chat, it's fine. In Party Chat, it's perfectly okay as well. I don't care to be punctual with grammar when I'm getting swarmed by the Silithid. But in Guild Chat (/g) and Say (/s), please use proper grammar and punctuation to the best of your ability. Part of the beauty of role playing is the effort you put into speech. There is nothing more satisfying then hearing a troll spurt, "Yah, mon!" or a Sin'dorei state, "Anu belore dela'na!" Stay IC with both of those chats and represent our Clan well!

If theses mandates are not adhered to, this will cause the Sovereign to demote the player to "Squall," wherein the person must make improvements immediately. If improvement is seen within one to two weeks, the player will then get promoted back to "Zephyr" and will have to re-establish rank. If the player does not heed the warning, the Sovereign will then remove the player from the clan.

Player Courtesy
  • You all represent Winds of Azeroth. Therefore, it is each of our duties to give a good image in this server. Malicious slandering (especially outside of RP'ing) is not tolerated. We are a mature guild, and wish to keep it that way. If your character is acting malevolent in any way towards other guild members, the officers and Sovereign will take notice, and your character will be in jeopardy of being removed. This is not to be harsh, it is only to be fair. Winds of Azeroth is a benevolent clan, so characters of the guild might react negatively to crude intent. Winds of Azeroth is a Spartan-like clan--a tightly-knit family. Each and every shares their mug with each other, so to speak. Sinister characters do appear in the Clan, which is perfectly fine. Just be sure to be fair to others and expect a villainous welcome! And as Arguum has stated about RP: "Basically, just play to have fun, with integrity, no worries."

Also on the topic of role playing, god-mode play and cybering is heavily looked down upon. When one god-modes, they take control of a scenario and unfairly bend the situation to their own liking, without consent of other players. This is one way to view role playing as close to real life—not everything happens your way every time. Give a little and take a little. Discuss out of character if needed. As far as cybering (extremely sexual and lascivious content) is concerned, it is just not acceptable in this Guild. We have a good variety of ages, and although the occasional Freudian slip is infinitely priceless, let us consider others' feelings before indulging in something scandalous. Just know the boundaries and try to remain as tasteful as possible!

Malicious intent, being a ninja (stealing group loot), and other such actions will be dealt with by the Sovereign on a case-by-case basis. Once again, demotion to Squall might be inevitable, and even a rescinding of membership might take place, depending on severity and cooperation of the player. We all makes mistakes in groups sometimes, this is forgivable. We've all been the new kid on the block before. So these matters will be dealt with through the officers. If they cannot be cleared by these means of action, the Sovereign will then step in.

Meetings & Events
  • Winds of Azeroth is a diverse group. We RP, raid on occasion, and hold frequent activities. We also have inter-guild relations and interactions. Meetings are priority. I set aside minutes every meeting to share and discuss. "Every voice shall be heard" is an ideology that Hurgroda has instated. Meetings do not only share minutes, but sometimes story time, or Fellowship—one of the underlying principles of Winds of Azeroth. So if you don't have the chance to RP all week, that would be a great time to pull out a story from your character's past, present or future! Once again, please sign up for these events on the website, as they are posted and points are distributed. Five minutes before playing WoW is sufficient to check the site...more than that is always smiled upon!

Not attending meetings means missed information. Missed information leads to confusion. Confusion leads to pain. Pain leads to...suffering. Now that you get the gist, if you cannot make a meeting, please inform an officer or myself, via in-game or through the website e-mail. Our official e-mail for the Winds is winds.azeroth@gmail.com . If you miss a meet or activity, be sure to check the website, for I post follow ups on each of the meetings and activities. Bottom line—stay informed; visit the website! Real life matters take priority over Winds of Azeroth (WoA) activities, but for the consideration of those who take the time to organize events, please let us know if you cannot make it. It looks kindly upon you and keeps the Guild Family alive and well knowing communication is strong as a kodo's hide!

A 30 person vent channel is provided for added RAIDING EFFICIENCY and GUILD CAMARADERIE. All members who have the necessary hardware (ie a headset at the very least so you can hear) are welcome to use vent but persons who are raiding will take precedence over those who are not. Raiding members who have vent capability are required to join in the same vent room as the raiding party for obvious reasons. Not so obvious? So you don't get the rest of the party killed!

Four major mandates to keep in mind, all for the organization of the Clan to keep it clean and fun! I'd like to thank the officers for helping me organize the guild. This guild is a sprout of the Descending Spirit, with members past from there which joined the Winds. Ideologies were passed on in creating Winds of Azeroth. I would also like to thank each and every one of you for making this clan the success it is, and the greater success it is about to be. As our coined motto goes, "May the Winds be at your back!"

Yours,
